Relaxation Dentistry

Relaxation dentistry is the term used for the methods used in a dentist’s office to ensure your dental procedure is carried out with minimal pain and discomfort.

Are You A Candidate For Relaxation Dentistry?

You may require some form of sedation if you have any of the following:

  • A history of traumatic dental experiences.
  • Difficulty experiencing numbness.
  • A bad gag reflex.
  • Dental anxiety.
  • Very sensitive teeth.
  • Complex or extensive dental problems.

F.A.Qs About Relaxation dentistry

Q. Will I feel any pain?
– No. You should feel nothing!Q. Will I be unconscious?
– No. Unlike general anesthesia, which requires a hospital-like environment, you are not unconscious. When you are unconscious, your vital functions like breathing need to be artificially maintained, and this introduces more risk into the procedure.

Q. Will I remember the procedure?
– Often you don’t even remember the procedure. This response is variable. With conscious sedation, you can fight off its effects if you choose, but if you let yourself go, you may not remember the procedure.

Q. How long will I be relaxing?
Depending on your needs, from two to six hours.

Q. Will somebody need to accompany me?
Yes, due to the sedative effects of the medication, you will need someone to drive you to our office and home again.
