New Patients at Lamb Family Dental
Welcome. Whether you’re new to Boise, new to our practice, or coming back to the dentist after years away, we’ve designed the new-patient experience around one principle: take it slow, build trust before treatment, and never push a decision. First visits run 60–90 minutes, free consultations are available for cosmetic or complex-case questions, and we accept most major dental insurance plus offer financing for uninsured patients. Gentle as a Lamb.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Plan for 60–90 minutes. Your first visit is diagnostic and relationship-building, comprehensive exam, full-mouth digital X-rays, a cleaning if your gum health permits, and a personalized treatment plan if anything needs attention. If you just want to meet the team before committing to treatment, a free consultation is available. No pressure, no pitch.
Your First Visit, Step by Step
Paperwork
New-patient forms completed online before arrival (or in the office, plan an extra 15–20 minutes if in-office).
Introductions
Your hygienist takes you back; Dr. Mack or Dr. Pelletier introduces themselves before the exam starts.
Comprehensive exam
Tooth-by-tooth visual exam, bite check, periodontal probing to measure gum health, oral cancer screening, and review of your medical history.
Full-mouth digital X-rays
Low-radiation bitewing and panoramic X-rays to see between teeth and below the gumline.
Cleaning (if gums permit)
Professional scaling and polishing. Patients with significant gum inflammation may need a deeper cleaning scheduled separately.
Treatment plan conversation
If we find anything, we explain with photos and X-rays. You leave with a written plan, pricing, and zero obligation to schedule follow-up the same day.

Coming Back After Years Away
A meaningful share of our new patients haven’t seen a dentist in 5, 10, or 20+ years. The hardest part is making the appointment. Once you’re here, we take it slow: thorough exam, X-rays to see what’s actually going on, honest conversation about priorities, and a realistic plan paced at your comfort level. We never shame anyone for time away, and we never push treatment faster than a patient is ready.
Patients with dental anxiety should mention it when scheduling, we’ll put the appointment in a quieter part of the day, schedule extra time, and discuss sedation options if appropriate. Many long-avoidance patients are now regular 6-month-cleaning patients because their first visit back went better than they feared.
Insurance & Payment Options
We accept most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Idaho (Regence, Pacificsource), United Healthcare, Guardian, Humana, and Principal. Out-of-network patients welcome; we help file claims to maximize your benefits. For uninsured patients, CareCredit financing covers larger treatment with 0%-interest options on qualifying purchases.
Meet Your Boise Dentists

Dr. Kyle Pelletier, DMD
Co-lead dentist. Gentle, unhurried, calm, often preferred by anxious patients and a go-to for pain-free implant placement.
Frequently Asked Questions From New Patients
How do I become a new patient at Lamb Family Dental?
Schedule online at our website or call (208) 344-6300. Your first visit includes a comprehensive exam, full-mouth digital X-rays, a cleaning if gum health permits, and a personalized treatment plan. Free consultations are available if you have a specific concern and want to meet us first.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Bring your insurance card, photo ID, list of current medications, and any prior dental records (X-rays, treatment history) if available. Fill out new patient forms online before arrival to save time. Allow 60–90 minutes for your first visit.
How early should I arrive for my first appointment?
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early if you’ve completed online forms, or 15–20 minutes early if you need to fill them out in the office. This gives you time to relax, get parking sorted, and meet our team before your appointment starts.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Idaho (Regence and Pacificsource), United Healthcare, Guardian, Humana, and Principal. Even if we’re out-of-network, we help file claims and maximize your benefits. Call (208) 344-6300 to verify your specific plan.
What if I haven’t been to the dentist in years?
We see this all the time, and there’s zero judgment. Your first visit back is usually longer than a typical cleaning, comprehensive X-rays, thorough exam, and a realistic plan to catch up on anything that needs treatment, paced at your comfort level. Sedation options are available for patients whose anxiety is the real barrier to getting care.
Do you see kids?
Yes, we see children from age 1 and up in the general practice. Many Boise, Eagle, and Meridian families book multi-generation appointments so kids and parents are seen in one trip. See our pediatric dentist page for details.
